My Dad.

My Dad is not my father. Anyone can be a father - I learned that long ago. A Dad, however, is very different. A Dad is a man that chooses to be a parent of a child and WANTS to be the child's parent. A Dad comforts, praises, provides for, cares about, disciplines, listens to, encourages, LOVES. My dad is my step-father (although I haven't called him that in many, many years). He married a young, beautiful woman with two little girls and chose to love them as his own. Over the years, his love grew for my sister and I from being his love's daughters, to being his step-daughters, to now and for quite a some time, we are just his daughters. How special are we that he chose to be our Dad!? Our baby brother is his only biological child, yet he has never made any difference between him and us. That's what Dad's do.. they love all their children equally!

Today is my Dad's birthday. Sadly, the birthday plans were put off for tomorrow at the last minute because he had to work late tonight. He is one of the hardest working people I have ever known!!

This evening, after he got in from work, we called him to tell him Happy Birthday. Listening to my daughter sing Happy Birthday to her PawPaw made my heart spill over! She adores him and he would lasso the moon for her!
What a pair!!

So, this evening I just want to thank all the true Dads out there for being.. well... DADS!!
And to my own Dad, my girl's PawPaw - Happy Birthday!! WE LOVE YOU!! :)
